The Mutual Self Help Housing Program provides great volunteer opportunities for individuals and organizations.

This program helps families become homeowners by teaching them how to build their own homes. They work as a group for 10 to 12 months for 30 hours per week to build their homes. They are not required to have any previous building experience.

By volunteering to help in the Mutual Self Help Housing Program, you will:

  • help several families achieve the American Dream of Homeownership by helping them build their homes
  • take part in an excellent community service project
  • learn new skills and interact with a highly motivated group
  • watch the walls of a home go up and feel great about what you have been able to accomplish in a day

No experience is necessary!

Mountainlands provides all the training you will need as you work on the homes performing tasks such as framing, painting, hammering, sawing, measuring, etc.

Mountainlands also provides opportunities for groups of up to 10-12 people to come out and volunteer for a day or more. We have a trainer available just for your group. It's a great team-building opportunity for organizations!
