This is designed to help individuals and families establish a pattern of regular savings and ultimately to purchase a productive asset. A productive asset is something of value that is likely to return substantial log-term benefits like security, stability and opportunities for more income. You may use your savings and match money to purchase your first home, to start a business, continue education or obtain assistive technology. While the matched saving is the centerpiece of an IDA ( Individual Development Account), the program has several other critical components including mandatory financial education and counseling, access to financial services and asset specific training related to the savings goal. To be eligible you must live in Utah, be at least 18 years old, have earned income and have no more than $10,000 net assets, excluding one car and one house.
